Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy

FAQs

Do you offer telehealth virtual appointments or in-person appointments?

I see clients in person or virtually in Montrose, Colorado, and only virtually in Missouri. Local Colorado clients may come to my office at 1113 E. Main, Montrose, CO. I conduct online sessions so that you can have your sessions in the comfort of your home!

What are your office hours?

I see clients Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm by appointment only.

How long is a typical session?

Sessions are typically 55 minutes but can be adjusted to what you need.

How much does counseling cost?

I offer two options: a Single session (individual or couples) for $150 or a bundle of 10 sessions for $1350.

Do you take insurance?

I am in network with many major insurance providers. I can accept health savings accounts and most credit cards. I can provide a superbill for out-of-network clients to help with reimbursement from their insurance company.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Life happens. Please reschedule or cancel at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or no-shows forfeit the session fee.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

Call me at (417) 300-4262, or email me at [email protected] to set up your initial free 15-minute consultation.

Are you a Christian Counselor?

Because I like the connection between human behavior and faith, I enjoyed my education at a seminary. As a clinical counselor, I approach my work from a Christian perspective but am not a “biblical counselor” or “pastor.” I enjoy working with people of all faiths! How much we discuss faith — if at all — is up to you.

With what age range do you work?

I typically work with individuals 18 years of age or older. I started my career working with children, so I enjoy having a child or two on my caseload as well.

With what populations do you work?

I see both men and women for individual counseling, couples, and children ages 4-12.

How often will I/we need to attend sessions?

I take your schedule and budget into consideration as we determine the frequency of sessions. Sessions are generally once a week but can be more or less often. It is most beneficial to have longer and/or more frequent sessions at the beginning of the process.

As a therapist, will you tell me (or us) what to do?

Counselors help you sort out your thoughts and feelings to make decisions in ways that will help you feel better. I won’t tell you what to do, but I will support you in exploring your options.
